Peel Music Hub is a place for young aspiring musicians to meet to collaborate, learn and develop their skills to prepare for a career in the contemporary music industry.

The initial meeting for participants was held on 7th July 2019 and decided:

Hub members want to progress their careers in the music industry through learning from experienced industry people. They see a need to learn more about:

  • Marketing and Social Media

  • Networking

  • Event management

  • Music skills and theory

  • Legal aspects of the industry

 

Hub members want to gain more experience and income from their music. They will achieve this by organising their own events and performances, and linking into local opportunities at festivals and events.

Navana is a singer/songwriter from Mandurah. From The Beatles to Angus and Julia Stone, Navana has no restrictions when it comes to genre and era. She throws in her own twist when it comes to cover songs and will move you with her own originals.

Sally Jane.png

Sally Jane is a vibrant young country music, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist from Serpentine, WA.  With a professional career only commencing in June 2017, Sally Jane is making  her mark in the Australian Country music scene with recent nomination for Peoples Choice in the WA 2018 Country Music awards.  Sally Jane is a regular performer in the local community and hotels.

One of the most experienced of the group David Petchell is an accomplished guitarist who moved from classical to punk and rock.

While studying music at TAFE Dave formed the band "The New Black" and was nominated for "WAM Song of the Year" in the pop category, as well as winning "The Next Big Thing" Band Competition.

Dave’s current band, "My Shadow and I" have recently released a two track demo and have been performing gigs all over Perth. This year they were nominated by WAM for Song of the Year in the "Punk/Hardcore" category for their first release, "Drugs" and have been recording their next full length EP at John Butler Studio, Fairbridge WA, and look forward to releasing it in the coming months.

Dave is currently studying Sound Production at TAFE and teaches guitar, bass and ukulele.

Nur Azman's ambition is to become a full time business professional in the music industry with a focus on business development, performance management and marketing.

Nur currently organis performances to benefit charities and would to extend those activities to the commerical music industry.

Maxx Carter is a Professional Musician from England, currently living and working in Mandurah, Western Australia.

 

Maxx has been playing drums and percussion for 15 years, playing with many different musicians, playing a variety of styles, across three countries he has lived in. He has a dedication and passion towards music and any musical projects he is involved with and is availale for freelance work, live shows, recording, teaching and touring.

You can see Maxx regularly performing with Guthrie, Ashlea Reale, Black Tractor and other bans.

Billy O'Connor is currently the drummer for Mirrors At The Arcade, a three piece “Indie Garage Punk Rock” band with a heavy diy aesthetic.

They released their debut single "Money Hungry Weasels" to a sold out show at Mills Records, and then did it all over again with their single "Inflation Frustration" in October 2018. Playing Fremantle Hidden Treasures in Western Australia, WAM Fest Regional as well as a slew of venues around town, they have taken the scene head on and don’t look like slowing down.

Having had their songs played on RTR'S "Home Grown Section" and multiple other stations, the audience has received and asked for more!

Karl Hunt  is the drummer for Asparagus Soop.

Born from the southern Perth regions, Asparagus Soop are a young indie-punk fusion with a range of strong original songs played with passion and energy. With the release of their latest single, 'Coke Song', and music video to accompany it, the boys have started to gain a big following and aren't stopping anytime soon.


They love choccy oaks, expensive guitars, the Leederville convenience store and Skegss, and probably own way too much band merch.

Georgia is a young singer/songwriter from Mandurah who enjoys preforming covers from genres ranging from grunge to pop. Georgia’s unique voice will delight and entertain.

Callum is the singer/lead guitarist for Asparagus Soop.

Jarrad Wheildon is another experienced member of the group.

 

Besides being an accomplished songwriter, vocalist, drummer and guitarist with My Shadow and I, who were nominated for a WA Music Song of the Year Award for their first release “Drugs”, Jarrad has skills in servicing guitars, tuning drums and electronics maintenance. His preferred musical genres include rock, punk, heavy pop, indie and blues.

 

He has completed an Advanced Diploma in Sound Production, has worked in pre and post production on movie sets, front of house at live events and recorded at a number of Perth studios.

 

Jarrad wants to become a great musician and a great live and recording engineer. He is participating in the Peel Music Hub to help him broaden his knowledge in music marketing and the music business. He wants to teach lesser experienced people about the logistics of recording and to help them better prepare themselves for their future projects and their technical knowledge and awareness.

A self-confessed romantic writing music to try to make sense of the world and it's inhabitants, WA based singer songwriter India Bradshaw presents a warmly familiar but individual sound that is always eager to please. India’s repertoire includes an array of heartbreaking (and sometimes dance inducing) originals interspersed with a few favourite covers.
